Review of Google Allo - A Smart Messaging App

Review of Google Allo - A Smart Messaging App
The Allo is a smart messaging app from Google which lets you express yourself better by saying and doing a lot more through text. It is one type of Google Assistant.

What Can You Do With Google Allo?

  • Use more Stickers
  • Shout/Whisper
  • Smart Reply
  • Ink
  • Go in incognito mode
  • Meet with your Google Assistant

What’s Best?

It is featured with Google Assistant and available for both iOS and Android devices. The incognito mode allows the best end-to-end encryption and privacy.

What’s Not Good?

It doesn’t have video calling feature and GIF support. You cannot control the read receipt settings.

Cost: Free

We all have an array of choices for sending texts and media to our friends and relatives from our phone or computer. But, Google thinks that we need one more messaging app which is smart also, and it added it too.

The search giant company has launched ‘Allo’ in September 2016. Google has tried to answer or wanted to create an alternative to WhatsApp and WeChat messaging applications. And Google is succeeded to create a smart and easy-to-use messaging app for its consumers.

How Google Allo Differs From The Other Messaging Apps?

Google has made Allo stand out from the pack by integrating Google Assistant into it. We all know about ‘Google Now’ and how it works. The Allo Google Assistant works in this same manner. It saves your time and provides you the best information whenever you need.

Allo Google Assistant is a bot which uses the vast database of Google to let you know the answers to the questions raised in your mind. For example, if you want to find about ‘Sports’ then you will get results in Allo Google Assistant like below.
Review of Google Allo - A Smart Messaging App
It also translates languages if you want and allows you to chat with your friends and family members any time you want. If you are feeling lonely, then you can play games with it too.

Yes, it is absolutely right that for simply searching queries, the preferable way is pressing the home button of our device and then go to the Apple’s Siri or Google Now. But, the advantage of Allo Google Assistant is, you can use it simultaneously while you are sending texts to your friends and relatives. You can even ask verbal questions to it while the app is open. You can look for something without leaving the app, which makes it differ from other standard messaging apps.

Other Useful Features Of Google Allo

  • It learns your previous answers to some particular questions and suggests you the options when the same question is asked again.
  • The suggestions not only in the form of text, but you can even choose from Emojis and even photos.
  • You can add text to the photos before sending and also can doodle them to show your creativity.
  • Hundreds of stickers designed by the worldwide independent artists and studios let you choose your best-expressing sticker on Google Allo.
  • Generally, when you want to point out something in a messaging app, you send it in ALL CAPS. But Google Allo lets you change the size of the text with a quick swipe and allows you to say it quieter or louder depending on your mood.
  • The Incognito mode allows you to have an end-to-end encrypted conversation. It keeps your chat private and gives you the control of the durability of the messages you send with expiring chats.

Should You Switch To Google Allo or Not?

In the title, I have mentioned it a smart messaging app. I absolutely mean it too. The app quality is fine, and the chat stuff is perfect. The advantage of Google Assistant is helpful too for the people who do not want to change the screens or go out of the messaging window for looking to something. But, if you ask me whether you should switch to Allo or not? My answer will be, wait for some time. We have seen the Google experiments over the Google Hangout and Google Plus for the messaging options. But, it flailed around in its social attempts. But, as the messaging is the epicenter of our phone usage, Google has smartly tried to jump over directly onto it. But, as per its predecessor attempts, Google needs a fresh and cool start in the messaging strategy.

Bottom Line

On the day 1, Google Allo doesn’t seem to be perfect for a communication way. But, the integrate, and well-known Google Assistant sets the Google Allo something to be more interested and smart messaging app in the recent times. But, seeing with the technology perspective, there are other options which have already made their place as a well-developed messaging application. So, without fireworks in the background, not allowing the message to be invisible and the lack of video calling feature can make it hard for ‘Google Allo’ to become a favorite chat messaging app in the near future.

5 Apps that Will Help You to Survive Holiday Shopping Season

5 Apps that Will Help You to Survive Holiday Shopping Season
Don’t pay attention to various preachers and non-conformists – there’s nothing wrong in rewarding yourself from time to time through the magic of buying something you don’t need. What makes shopping for a poor choice of a regular hobby, though, is the fact that our funds are, in the end, very limited. So, what should we do when there’s so many interesting things to check out and not so many resources? You guessed it – we should download the app that can help us to find the best deal. Here are the top 5 choices.

RetailMeNot

With the impressive list of more than 50,000 supported retailers, RetailMeNot is an app that comes awfully close to having something for virtually everyone. You only have to enter the store you are buying in, and the app will generate a thorough list of online and in-store discounts you can use. However, that’s not all. RetailMeNot also allows you to redeem your coupons directly from your phone and sends you notifications when you are in the vicinity of a store that offers a good deal.

Canopy

No matter which item you are searching for, the chances are you’re going to find it on Amazon. However, this endless list of available goodies is, at the same time, your biggest curse because if you want to find anything of value, you have to plow through tons of duds. Fortunately, you can always download Canopy and quickly look through unique lifestyle, home décor, fashion and other recommendation sections. Since the results are human-curated, you can always count on a healthy dose of common sense involved in the aggregation process.

Groupon

Like many other coupon-based apps, Groupon started its journey as a cheap way to get a meal or a solarium session. However, as the list of supported services and discounts grew, the app became more versatile and useful as well. Today, Groupon allows you to browse tons of deals, ranging from vacation packages to bedroom furniture. What distinguishes Groupon from the competition is that you don’t even need to visit the third-party sites to get the items you need to your address.

Flipp

There is something inherently nostalgic about scouring the shops with your hands full of holiday coupons and weekly fliers. Now, you can relive these warm memories, but this time you will look for the best shopping deals with your faithful smartphone. Essentially, Flipp behaves like an interesting half-breed. On the one hand, the app allows you to browse your digital flier library so you don’t have to carry huge amounts of paper with you. On the other hand, if you tap on an item from the flier/catalogue, Flipp will automatically add that item to your grocery list.

SlickDeals

SlickDeals is a very powerful deals aggregator that covers huge variety of sources and puts the results on your touchscreen. The good news is that huge variety of sources covers literally everything ranging from groceries to clothing and home electronics. You can browse featured deals on the front page, look for the local deals, and search the products by categories. But the cherry of the top of this amazing product is definitely notification functionality that allows you to set up custom alerts for specific products. Are the deals slick? You bet they are.

We hope that these few apps will help you to survive the upcoming holiday season without creating a supermassive black hole that will suck out all life from your wallet and the bank account. Remember, shopping is good, but finding a good deal that will save you money is whole lotta better.

Putting all your campaigns to social media is the most effective marketing strategy for your company or brand. Different social media platforms can be utilized to effectively advertise your brand to an incredibly large number of people worldwide.

However, since all companies are aware of this, it can be a struggle to compete with millions of different companies advertising their brands on social media. You might feel stuck in the brainstorming or conceptualization stage of your content marketing because you want to outsmart your competition with your posts to gain customers.

Here are some ways on how you can simplify and smarten up your social media content writing to keep your current customers engaged and potentially attract new ones.

1. Always Be On The Lookout For Trending Topics

Trending topics usually set the tone of your contents. It is important that you are familiar with trending topics to get people to read your contents. Visual content such as memes with witty captions are the simple but great way to attract readers and followers.

2. Only Post About Unfamiliar Topics When Your Brand Is Already Established

It is important that you are smart about what you post. When you have already established your brand and have a legitimate number of followers, you can start posting about new and unfamiliar things. You can share your items, promotions, and introduce new products and services.

3. Always Be A Positive Influence

No one wants to read a negative post. Always try to be a positive influence on social media. Be funny but not derogatory. Be smart but do not sound too formal and technical. If you commit a mistake of posting something negative, it will backfire and it will be hard for your company to bounce back after that.

If you continue to be a positive and happy brand, your customers and followers will be happy to stay with you.

4. Always Provide Relevant And Useful Information

Always provide relevant and useful information that your readers and customers can relate to. Share information that can add value to the world in general. Just make sure your information is verified before you share them on social media. It is an essential part of your content marketing strategy.

5. Connect With Your Followers And Create A Relationship

Social media networks provide an opportunity for you to connect with your followers and customers. Through social media, you can gauge how powerful your campaigns are in real time. You will discover what your customers want, need, and like. This can help you improve your products and services to suit your target market.

Also, you will know which posts are effective. The date you gather will help you simplify your contents and posts in the future. The more you practice writing on social media, the better you will become at it.

6. Utilize Other Social Media Networks

Each social media network caters to a specific type or people. Utilize this to your advantage. For example, younger people are using and sharing more on Snapchat and Instagram now more than they share on Facebook. People ages 25 and up love to use Pinterest for getting ideas.

You can tailor your contents and posts based on which social media network you are using and the kind of audience you are targeting. Do not just stick to Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Explore other social media networks and connect with a larger pool of people with similar interests.

7. Make Sure Your Contents Reflect Your Company’s Vision, Mission, Voice & Culture

Do not get sidetracked by events, trending topics, and other information you get on the Internet just to stay relevant. Make sure that every time you share information, it also reflects what your company or brand believes in, your voice, and your culture.

15 Ways To Simplify Your Content Writing For Social Media

8. Common Sense Over Sales

Post contents that make sense, not just for the sake of posting one because you want to gain more followers and customers. If your contents are always informative and helpful, sales will follow. Your readers can be turned into customers and they will stay loyal to you. Keep it simple but with a lot of sense.

9. Encourage Involvement From Your Customers And Followers

You should always encourage your followers to get involved by communicating with them. Ask them questions or create a survey. This is a great way to promote your products and services in the future by utilizing the data you collected from your followers.

You won’t have to curate long contents in the future because you already know what your customers or followers want to see or read.

10. Always Keep Your Communication Lines Open

You should always keep your communication lines open. You should be able to provide good customer service by answering your followers’ questions or if they have complaints. This helps build a strong relationship that can benefit you for years.

11. Your Contents Should Be Genuine

People are smarter nowadays. They can sense genuine, forced, and fake contents. This can cause the fall of any businesses. Make sure you post genuine contents to avoid turning off followers and customers. Get employees or writers to post contents with the voice that they are good at.

For example, if you want to sound sarcastically funny but do not have the talent to post contents in such voice, hire someone naturally sarcastic and funny that can do the job. This will make your posts sound genuine.

12. Your Contents Must Be Understandable And Easy To Read

Your contents should be simple, informative, and easy to read. Millennials and younger crowds have short attention span. One technique that is strategically used by most marketers is by using memes or images inserted into an article to keep the readers engaged.

13. Use Conversational Tone

When you talk in a conversational tone, it would sound like you are talking with a friend. You can still keep it professional but not too professional that it sounds like you are speaking with your clients on social media. This helps develop and foster a good relationship with your followers.

Treating your followers or customers as friends by talking in a conversational and light tone, your business will gain more clicks and interactions from your followers. This is especially helpful if you have video contents.

14. Be Consistent With Your Voice And Keep It Strong

Keep the consistency of your contents. This means that the voice used should the same in all your social media platforms. Your customers will feel that they are talking with the same person rather than multiple people.

15. Reach Out To Other People For Help With Your Contents

As mentioned, different social media networks cater to different types of people. Create a social media team that will be responsible for keeping each social media platform consistent, relevant, and informative. This is especially helpful if you do not have an idea of what sells to a certain age group.

If you want to understand and effectively connect with millennials on social media, perhaps hiring or assigning a millennial to curate posts or create contents for that specific age group is wise.
Make sure that each member understands the type of people they are trying to reach out to. Make sure they are aware of what vice to use and what information to share.

Follow these tips in keeping your contents and posts simple yet powerful. You do not need to be too overwhelmed by the amount of information available to you and get confused on what to share. If you do these tips properly, your social media marketing campaigns will be a tremendous success and you will gain followers that you can turn into customers.

Why does Google Penalize Your Site?

Google is constantly updating its algorithm and way it indexes your website. But, it doesn't provide any kind of details about the changes and their solutions. Here are some of the reasons that might become a reason for the penalty:
  • Buying links: If you’ve been creating or buying bad links, your effort could be considered as an attempt to manipulate PageRank.
  • Duplicate content: Undoubtedly this is one of the most obvious reasons that can make your site penalized. Any duplicate content on your website makes it less valuable in Google’s point of view, and that might result in a penalty.
  • Unique content: Make sure your content is 100% plagiarism-free and written in a professional way. The properly structured content help you with SEO.
  • Internal 404: Google wants to know that you provide useful content to your users without any errors and problems. If you’re getting 404 error on your website, it’s a clear signal that your site visitors aren’t getting the information they are looking for.
  • Keyword stuffed content: There are several kinds of rules or perception about keyword density in your content. All these rules aren't proven but a high keyword density is a remark of poorly written content. If Google detects keywords stuffing on your website, it may penalize you anytime.
  • Overused H1 tags: The H1 tag helps Google recognize what the page or website is about. But, Google considers excessive H1 tags as an attempt to manipulate PageRank.
  • Backlinks from websites in other languages: If you are getting a legitimate link from a site in another language, it might be counted against you.
  • Hidden links: Every link on your site must be visible and valuable to visitors. The hidden link is considered as a suspicious backlink.
  • Broken external links: You really need to keep your links up-to-date. Check all the web pages and backlinks on a regular basis and assure that they aren't giving 404 error.
  • Dealing with Google's Penalty: So, you have already penalized by Google but don't worry. Most of the penalties may be fixed with a little effort. With some easy solutions, you might get rid of it.
  • You can use Disavow tool to ask Google to remove the troublesome links that may be harming your website.
  • While disavow is a widely-used option, it’s not the best. You really need to put some efforts to get some of the links taken down manually.
  • You should also update the content of your website while eliminating keyword stuffing.
Sometimes Google takes a while to re-crawl your site and disavow requests. Experts also recommend abandoning a site instead of fighting a Google penalty.
